Center Seekers
Center Seekers are modern descendants of ancient ritual enamel vessels. No longer of service as ceremonial instruments, they search for new cultural roles. Becoming sentient and seeking meaning, they reach up in wonder, their feet turn into claw forms, and their rims become outward-gazing eyes.
The vessels are deep transparent blue of the night sky. The cloisonné patterns for this series are invented symbolic interpretations of text from Samuel Beckett’s modernist novel Watt. Their silver surface patterns recall both convoluted logic diagrams and celestial constellations; a pull between using logic as a tool for understanding a swiftly-changing world, and finding solace and inspiration in the wonder of the unexplained universe.
