Bicycle Logic Vessels
For this series of vessels, I drew inspiration from geometric brain-teasers and 19th century educational models, aiming for forms that offered glimpses of ideal solids, warped space, and living beings.
Influenced by art from long-departed cultures, I imagine that they could also survive centuries, to be interpreted by artists far in the future. The surface imagery take cues from ancient proto writing systems, as well as modern sources such as flow-charts, mind-maps, and electrical diagrams— webs of lines and arrows that reflect the novel’s main character’s attempt to make sense of his world.
Inspired by the art objects left by cultures from other parts of the world, I have created my own series of vessels that tell visual stories. Made with glass enamel on copper, I imagine that they could also survive centuries, waiting to be discovered and interpreted by unknown artists far in the future.
Five sculptural cloisonné vessels: Vitreous enamel on electroformed copper.
Approximately 3 inches high.
